How do I place an advertisement in our newsletter?

Please contact our Newsletter Editor to place an advertisement in our club newsletter or for more information on rates. Members are allowed to place one business card size ad per calendar year free of charge ($5 value).

How do I sign up for activities?

You can contact the Activities Chairmom or the RSVP contact listed in the monthly calendar via telephone or email to let them know that you would like to attend an event.

What activities will we have each month?

Every month we have a membership meeting (speaker, discussion or fun activity), and other activities such as a moms night out, lunch bunch, craft day, walking club, and field trips.

Am I expected to come to every function?

Of course not! Pick and choose what activities you have time for in your schedule and plan accordingly. This is why we plan our monthly calendars in advance; to allow you the opportunity to see what activities the club will have and allow you to choose those activities that interest you most!

Can I bring my children?

Children are welcome at every MOMS Club function. For MOMS Night Out, most moms choose to leave the kids at home with dad or a sitter but children are always welcome if need be.

Where do our dues go?

Your dues go to several club expenses. Postage, cost to copy membership materials and newsletters, office supplies, and refreshments for meetings and activities are just some of the examples. We are also required to pay the greater of $30 or $2 per member to International MOMS Club® annually to cover the costs for running the whole organization and to furnish each new member with a pin.

Why does the MOMS Club meet during the day?

The first and most important reason all MOMS Club chapters hold their meetings during the day is because that is when stay-at-home moms need support the most. Mothers need adult companionship during the day. Second, holding night meetings disrupts family life. Third, remember that although some husbands can take care of the children by themselves after a long day at work, not all are willing or able.

Can I invite non-member friends to MOMS Club gatherings?

Non-members may attend 2 functions, either 2 monthly membership meetings or 1 monthly membership meeting/1 park day, before joining MOMS Club. It is against our by-laws, however, to allow non-members to attend MOMS Club Playgroups or Activities in members’ homes. By doing so, we could lose our status as a chapter. Dues are kept low to encourage membership, and if paying dues is a hardship, please see a Board member who can help.

Can I bring other people’s children along with my own to MOMS Club functions?

Yes, but they MUST have a permission slip, a signed liability release form and a medical release form.

Why is MOMS Club spelled with all capitals and no apostrophes? Shouldn’t it be Mom’s Club?

The name “MOMS” in MOMS Club stands for “MOMS Offering Moms Support ®”. The name “MOMS Club”, the phrase “MOMS Offering Moms Support” and the mother/child logo are all registered trademarks of the MOMS Club corporation and may not be used by any person or organization without prior written authorization.

How do I know when my I need to renew my membership?

You will receive a reminder in the mail when your membership is up for renewal. A list will also be published in the “Renewals” section of our monthly newsletter. To remain a member in good standing, dues must be paid by the last day of the anniversary month (month in which the originally joined) unless arrangements for an extension. The Treasurer and Membership VP work together to collect the annual dues and to get a new liability waiver signed.

Why does our MOMS Club have so many rules? I don’t think “X” rule is fair; can we change it?

All MOMS Club local support groups operate under the same bylaws. One reason is because the IRS requires it. Another is that having a uniform structure nationwide protects the MOMS Club goals and reputation and ensures that all individual members are treated equally and fairly.

In addition to the bylaws, local chapters have their own policies on topics such as behavior and sickness. These policies are subject to change. Any changes must be approved by the membership by a vote held at our monthly membership meeting.
