Playgroup Policies

Mission:  Our mission is to provide age appropriate playgroups for all members of the MOMS Club of Allen-SE, TX and MOMS Club of Allen-SC, TX.

Playgroup Committee:  The Playgroup Committee will consist of a Playgroup Coordinator and a Playgroup Leader for each group.

Playgroup Coordinator: The Playgroup Coordinator will be responsible for placing new members to the age appropriate playgroups.  She will also review any problems or concerns brought to her by a Playgroup Leader or member.   The Playgroup Coordinator will schedule Playgroup Committee Meetings at her discretion.  Any changes in the playgroup policies will be voted on at such a meeting.

Playgroup Leader: Playgroup Leaders are responsible for scheduling playgroups and providing the information to each member.  It is encouraged for the Playgroup Leaders to attend other functions of the MOMS Club and to remind their members of upcoming events.  This is important to help new members to participate in the MOMS Club as a whole and not just playgroup.

Playgroup Members

1.       All playgroup members must rotate hosting playgroups.  It is preferred that playgroup be hosted in their home, but they may plan to meet somewhere else if this will be a problem.

2.         If the hostess has previously agreed to host a playgroup and will be unable to fulfill the commitment, she is responsible to either attempt to switch with another member or to arrange for the group to meet at another location (Park, Chuck E Cheese, etc.)  She will then notify each playgroup member of the new location via telephone.

3.        Each hostess is responsible for making sure the play environment is clean, safe and free of pets, firearms and smoke.

4.       Members should not attend a different playgroup without prior approval of the playgroup leader for that group.

5.         If a member does not attend or host a playgroup for a period of 2 months, then they should become inactive and allow room for an active member.  If they would like to become active again, then they may be reassigned to a playgroup at such time.

6.         If unable to attend, playgroup members should notify the hostess.

Playgroup Size:

Playgroups will not be closed to new members.  If a playgroup chooses not to accept new members, they will no longer be classified as a MOMS Club playgroup and will be removed from the playgroup roster.

Once a playgroup has reached a regular attendance of 8 children, the playgroup shall be considered “full” but able to accept visitors until a new playgroup can be formed.  A volunteer will be needed to become a playgroup leader for the new group.  Each group may vote for one of the following ways of dividing:

a.         By birthdays (based on when the child begins school)

b.         By Day of week attendance (ex. Dividing between Monday and Tuesday playgroups)

No playgroup shall be split to have less than 4 members, regardless of number of children.
